The famous fermented tofu of Wangzhihe is known for its strong aroma. However, it is considered a tasty delicacy and has been part of Chinese cuisine for hundreds of years.
The smell of this tofu is caused by the protein in the tofu breaking down during fermentation. This results in the production of hydrogen sulfide, which is what causes the smell.
Ingredients: Water, soybeans (37.8%), salt, Szechuan pepper, acidity regulator (E511).
