Tumbukan Laos Mortar & Pestle

This traditional mortar is especially common in Thailand and Laos. This mortar made of clay has a wooden pestle. You can use this mortar to grind herbs and pastes, but its depth makes it ideal for making a traditional papaya salad, for example. The salad can then simply be added after mortaring the herbs so that you can mix the salad in the mortar. Note: the color may differ slightly from the image per mortar. These are handmade and are therefore often a mixture of red/terracota color and dark brown.
