Callaloo resembles spinach, it is a green leafy vegetable and is widely grown in Jamaica. With its own distinct taste, once eaten, no other substitute will deliver the unique taste of properly selected callaloo, it is the true taste of Jamaican home.
Ingredients: Callaloo water, salt.
Recipe suggestion:
For 4-6 people.
Boil (1 kg) Irish potatoes and cream with 30 g (2 tablespoons) margarine and 60 ml (4 tablespoons) milk. Drain, wash and cut Callaloo. Add salt, Tropical Sun Ground black pepper and 15 sliced onions. Steam for 5-8 minutes. Cut 2 cans of sausage into 1 inch rounds and add to the callaloo. Steam for another 2-3 minutes. slice 500 g tomatoes (1 lb). Place Irish potatoes, callaloo, sausage and tomato slices in alternating layers until the dish is filled. place the Irish potatoes on top and smooth. dot with margarine and bake at 180ºc for about 20 minutes or until lightly brown. Then enjoy!
