A plum jam, delicious as a dessert, with a fruity start, a spicy taste and a touch of umami. This ume plum jam is produced on a farm in Hida-Takayama, Gifu Prefecture. The plums, initially green, turn beautifully yellow as they ripen. They have a nice peach scent and a nice fruity taste. They are combined with Tanegashima sugar. This ume plum jam can simply be eaten on bread, but is also ideal as a topping on natural yoghurt or vanilla ice cream. With its very little sweet taste, it can be enjoyed as is or used in sweet preparations such as cakes, with whipped cream or in muffins.
